Optimize Your Ebay EPN Wordpress Blog
Since I’ve already showed how to set up your Wordpress blog to show Ebay auctions and get some search engine traffic to it. I thought I would build on other ways to monetize your Ebay Partner Network (EPN) Wordpress blog. I’m also going to list all the plug-ins that I feel are needed to be successful at getting that free organic traffic to your Wordpress blog.
Besides affiliate links (other than EPN) Google’s Adsense is another way to monetize your EPN Wordpress website. I’ve recently integrated Adsense on my motorcyclesgear.com site. I must say I’ve made more so far with Adsense than with EPN. I also can say that I am on track to show a profit at the end of the year on this site. I haven’t put the time I need into the site but it does get around five unique visitor a day in organic traffic. Not bad considering the small amount of time and money I’ve invested so far. I really need to add my own content to get an increase in traffic! Enough about what I need to do….
A note before you add Adsense to an EPN website or any other auction website is to ensure you follow Google’s Adsense Terms Of Service. Just be sure that your site shows more than just Ebay auction listings. You must have usable content for your visitor. Lack of content aside, the number one item I see on many site’s is the lack of a Privacy Policy. I’ve quoted below directly off of the Adsense TOS page:
“AdSense publishers must have and abide by a privacy policy that discloses that third parties may be placing and reading cookies on your users’ browser, or using web beacons to collect information as a result of ad serving on your website.”
So before adding Adsense be sure to read and follow the Adsense TOS including a privacy policy.
Now about those plug-ins.
First, since we already talked about the privacy policy so let’s start with a Privacy Policy plug-in. It won’t even take you five minutes to install and configure an Adsense compliant privacy policy
Next, we’re targeting organic traffic right? So why not install the All In One SEO Pack? It has every thing you need to optimize your site and make you site is Search Engine friendly.
Now to track your organic traffic install the Google Analytics plug-in. It’s a snap to paste in your analytics code and be able to track your visitors with Google Analytics.
Another item that will help make your site SEO friendly is a Sitemap. You can get this plug-in Sitemap Generator and your Sitemap will automatically be generated and submitted to the major search engines.
Wordpress is coming out with new versions all the time and I’ve found that the Automatic Upgrade plug-in save me loads of time by automatically backing up and upgrading my Wordpress Blogs when ever a new version comes out.
Last, but not least is the Yet Another Related Post Plug-In. It automatically generates a list of related post at the end of each post. This will help keep your visitors on your site longer by offering a related post for further reading.
So there you have it, a way to make some extra money with your EPN blog and all the basic plug-ins to get you started. Good luck building you Ebay Wordpress site!
