Since I’ve already showed how to set up your Wordpress blog to show Ebay auctions and get some search engine traffic to it. I thought I would build on other ways to monetize your Ebay Partner Network (EPN) Wordpress blog. I’m also going to list all the plug-ins that I feel are needed to be successful at getting that free organic traffic to your Wordpress blog.
Besides affiliate links (other than EPN) Google’s Adsense is another way to monetize your EPN Wordpress website. I’ve recently integrated Adsense on my motorcyclesgear.com site. I must say I’ve made more so far with Adsense than with EPN. I also can say that I am on track to show a profit at the end of the year on this site. I haven’t put the time I need into the site but it does get around five unique visitor a day in organic traffic. Not bad considering the small amount of time and money I’ve invested so far. I really need to add my own content to get an increase in traffic! Enough about what I need to do….
A note before you add Adsense to an EPN website or any other auction website is to ensure you follow Google’s Adsense Terms Of Service. Just be sure that your site shows more than just Ebay auction listings. You must have usable content for your visitor. Lack of content aside, the number one item I see on many site’s is the lack of a Privacy Policy. I’ve quoted below directly off of the Adsense TOS page:
“AdSense publishers must have and abide by a privacy policy that discloses that third parties may be placing and reading cookies on your users’ browser, or using web beacons to collect information as a result of ad serving on your website.”
So before adding Adsense be sure to read and follow the Adsense TOS including a privacy policy.
Now about those plug-ins.
First, since we already talked about the privacy policy so let’s start with a Privacy Policy plug-in. It won’t even take you five minutes to install and configure an Adsense compliant privacy policy
Next, we’re targeting organic traffic right? So why not install the All In One SEO Pack? It has every thing you need to optimize your site and make you site is Search Engine friendly.
Now to track your organic traffic install the Google Analytics plug-in. It’s a snap to paste in your analytics code and be able to track your visitors with Google Analytics.
Another item that will help make your site SEO friendly is a Sitemap. You can get this plug-in Sitemap Generator and your Sitemap will automatically be generated and submitted to the major search engines.
Wordpress is coming out with new versions all the time and I’ve found that the Automatic Upgrade plug-in save me loads of time by automatically backing up and upgrading my Wordpress Blogs when ever a new version comes out.
Last, but not least is the Yet Another Related Post Plug-In. It automatically generates a list of related post at the end of each post. This will help keep your visitors on your site longer by offering a related post for further reading.
So there you have it, a way to make some extra money with your EPN blog and all the basic plug-ins to get you started. Good luck building you Ebay Wordpress site!

It seems that adding eBay listings to your website is becoming a popular way to monetize websites. Many people are using Build a Niche Store (BANS) to build web stores with the Ebay Partner Network (EPN). Ebay RSS feeds are another option but they are limited and take time to set up.
I’ve been using Wordpress.org blogs to do basically the same thing. I’m targeting organic search traffic so I feel with Wordpress and adding useful content I can rank better in the Search Engines. I also want to have informative sites that will encourage return visits. Most of all I’m trying to see how I can do all this without spending any money on building my sites.
Up till now I have been using Phpbay lite to add eBay listings to my sites. You can read about it here adding ebay listings to wordpress.
I’ve discovered another free plugin to add eBay auctions to your Wordpress blog. It’s called Affomatic and it’s a free plugin for Wordpress. Affomatic offers options that Phpbay lite does not. You can chose countries, sort by relevance and choose a catagory.
I went ahead and set it up on my site Antique-glass.org. Setup was easy and it was up and running in less than 5 minutes.
Here’s two links to the site comparing Affomatic to PhpBay lite.
A Wordpress page with Affomatic: Coronation Depression Glass.
The Same blog with Phpbay lite: Royal Ruby Depression Glass.
Affomatic offers a bit more than Phpbay and I like the two colum layout. I’ll be experimenting with it over the next few months.
Affomatic aslo offers a neat stand alone eBay store that requies no database! I’ll be giving that a try as well. You can check it out here free Ebay store.

Ok, It’s been a while and I’ve found some time to get back to PhpBay/Wordpress project MotorCyclesGear.com. I’ve decided that I do not have the time to write articles for the site. I have decided to risk the “duplicate content” penalty and use articles from various article directories. I have a smaller article directory ArchivedArticles.com so I’ll use some from there. I could have articles written but that would not be inline with the “build it for free” test I’m conducting.
Basically, the site had no traffic from just the eBay ads alone. A few weeks ago I put a few articles up and I started getting getting traffic from Yahoo and Google of 2-5 visits per day. There have been 5 EPN clicks and so far no eBay sales. I’m adding more articles, that should improve the traffic. I’ll exchange a few links with related sites and see how the traffic improves.
I also switched the theme back to the first one I had because the other one loaded way too slowly. My plan is to add adsense and a SEO optimized template to the site once I get enough content. I used a SEO optimized template for my Antique-Glass.org site and have large increase in my click thru rate.
